Inspired by Culture
A young entrepreneur from Wales originating from the Philippines later discovered the spirit of Bayanihan during his travels back home. This marked the starting point of Berganio Baybayin.
He hopes to pave the way of not only improving the reviews and rankings of multiple businesses through a simple but innovative solution, but to also give recognition to the “Bayanihan” spirt from his home and give meaning to something that is more than just a card.
Our story
Growing up in the UK, he lost touch of his roots, a common experience for individuals navigating identity in a multicultural society. This cultural disconnection lead to a sense of self discovery. In the midst of his search and flying all the way to a country in South East Asia for a year at a young age, he found Bayanihan.
Since finding this word, he wanted to give light to it. Something that carried so much meaning. “Bayan” comes from the root word “nation” and it’s a spirit of cooperation. Uniting as a community in time of difficulty. A concept that he wants to personify in establishments. In hopes it would become the reminder that no establishment is more valuable than a team that works together to achieve a common goal in times of adversity.
The card is written in both English and Baybayin script.
Putting two together as a symbol of balance. A form of saying that if we can work together in balance and cooperation, we can create a harmonious and sustainable environment.
Working in establishments, most especially restaurants has made us deeply understand that reviews are everything. It not only improves an establishments reputation but it also becomes a form of trust to new guests that have yet to experience it.
It is for this reason that we exist. Simplifying reviews through a simple but innovative solution and simultaneously representing cultural values
THE IDEA
BAYANIHAN
Strong sense of community
so often we think of only looking out for ourselves in both our daily lives and work lives.
Bayanihan represents “all for one and one for all”. The phrase represents the idea that all members of a group or community should collaborate for the greater good, with each individual contributing to the collective welfare and supporting one another. It encourages the ideals of cooperation, teamwork, and loyalty, emphasising the strength that comes from standing together rather than pursuing individual interests.
